I’m delighted to announce, weighing in at a not-too-shabby 135,118 words, the birth of a bouncing new baby book!
Provisionally entitled, At The World’s Turn, the story recounts the thrilling tale of Aona Breid, a young man who discovers, as is so often the case in such fantasy fare, that he’s a bit good at magic.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t massively channeling all my favourite stories (Star Wars, Harry Potter, Discworld) into something distinctly… me.
I spent a lot of time building my own world, Iatha, with a history, mythology, language and magical/religious systems that I could set the story in. I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface, which excites me, as there’s plenty of scope for many stories to take place there.
Now I need to do a good old tidy up on it. I have a long list of tweaks, twiddles and threads to pull tight.
I’m also on the look out for a few alpha readers. If fantasy is your thing, drop me a line.
